2012 SAMAs WILL HAVE 9 HOSTS
Nine of SA’s biggest celebrities and musicians will host this year’s South African Music Awards. The news were announced on April 23rd night as the countdown to the awards continues. Kwaito icon Kabelo Mabalane, who has hosted the awards a couple of times will this year be joined by first time host and soul-singer Zonke Dikana, gospel-singer Swazi Dlamini and American born TV presenter Jen Su. Mzansi Magic’s Pabi Moloi will also join Idols judge Unathi Msengana, Sizwe Dhlomo and the original Idols winner Heinz Winkler to host SA’s big night in music.
While one or two hosts traditionally host the awards, SAMA CEO Randall Abraham says they’re looking to make the awards even bigger and better this year. “We have decided to reach for the stars – literally and figuratively – at MTN SAMA 18. Whereas in the past the awards only featured one or two hosts, this year we are significantly upping the star-power quota of the hosts, presenters and performers to dazzle the audience at the Superbowl as well as the millions of viewers glued to their TV sets at home.”
Eight hosts have been announced but one mysterious host will be revealed during the live broadcast from the Sun City Superbowl. The question is, who do you think it will be? Leave us a comment below with your thoughts.
In the build up to SAMA weekend, the celebs will be hustling and bustling to get their designer outfits sorted out. Who will rock the yellow carpet? If last’s year’s yellow carpet action is anything to go by, you’ll be able to tell now
The 18th Annual South African Music Awards will be held on the 29th and 30th of April 2012 in Sun City.

MELANIE FIONA'S NEW VIDEO
Watch me Work is lifted off Fiona’s sophomore album The MLife, which has already released in the US only.
EYE ON DAVIDO
Davido
Davido is to 2012 what Wizkid was to 2011. His two singles "Dami Duro" and "Back When" as well as collabos with other artistes keep heads banging in clubs, and are on heavy rotation on music channels and radio stations even though much of what he says is lost… even to Yoruba speakers.
In the past three weeks, Davido has not only become the face of MTN’s PULSE, he has played gigs in Malaysia, the UK and is currently in the US where he is shooting videos for two new songs.
EMELI SANDE RELEASES A NEW VIDEO
UK new-coming artist Emeli Sandé released a brand new video for her latest single, My kind of Love. The single is lifted off Sandé’s chart-topping debut album, Our version of Events.
ADELE ON TIME'S 100 LIST
Fellow songstress Pink has revealed why Adele is deserving of the title.
“Turn on any radio station in the world and you will probably hear Adele. Go to Mars right now and I’m pretty sure if there is life on that planet, they’re playing Adele. And for good reason,” Pink wrote on the TIME website.
“I’m always so happy when the world catches on to something great. Especially when it’s authentic talent, great songwriting and a unique package. I am so relieved that Adele possesses the kind of beauty that she does, that she’s crass and funny and that she sings live — and incredibly. Her success renews hope in me that the world I live in has good taste — that we still occasionally come back to what’s simple, and simply amazing. I can’t wait to hear what she does next.”

Other people named in the poll include Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge along with her sister Pippa Middleton, Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig and Rihanna.
Stella McCartney has gushed about Rihanna on the singer’s entry on the TIME website.
“This is the beginning for Rihanna — she has so much more to do and to give. She is just getting going, so watch out. She’s the Barbados ambassador for youth and culture, and she’s coming to a town near you,” Stella wrote.
MINDLESS BEHAVIOR TAPPED FOR INTERACTIVE TRADING CARDS SERIES
Mindless Behavior
The "California Love" rapper will be joined by a select group of artists that includes Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg and new generation stars Mindless Behavior and Diggy Simmons.
BET.com caught up with MB in Los Angeles where they were shooting a commercial to promote the high-tech product. The fantastic foursome talked about having fun and being into the project, which features some of their music idols.
“The awesome thing is it’s not just us, it’s a bunch of artists,” said Princeton as the group explained their role in the series.
The cards will feature rare photographs of the artists on the front, with biographical information and a QR code on the back. When scanned with a smartphone, the QR code will unlock downloadable content including music and/or a video message from the artist. A limited number of the cards will be autographed.
The Platinum League cards will come in packs of five randomly grouped artists and retail for $3.79 each. The first run will be released May 1, with a national advertising campaign on BET, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network scheduled to begin April 23.
BIG SEAN SPEAKS ON HIS SONG WITH MIKE POSNER
Big Sean
Mike Posner
"I personally like the record because it’s the realest s--t ever," he said. "We talking about coming up, we talking about how it was years ago before we had any record deals and we was in his mom’s basement writing these records. Y’all don’t understand, we was in a little busted a-- basement coming up with melodies for ‘Cooler Than Me,’ all the songs that we did before," he said.
Sean said the new song, which will be featured on Posner's upcoming sophomore album, Sky High, is about the moment when your dreams start to come true.
"[Back then it was] just us talking about where we was going to be and to see it all start happening. It’s one of the most craziest things in life. When you in the pursuit of happiness and that s--t come, that s--t is like, unreal. So I feel like the record, ‘Top of the World,’ embodies that feeling. It’s some fun s--t too, at the same time."

JENNIFER HUDSON TAKES THE STAND
An emotional Hudson had to relive the painful events of 2008 as she testified that she warned her sister, Julia, not to marry Balfour.
“I would tell Julia over and over again not to marry William,” Hudson said. “None of us, myself, my mother, or my brother, we did not like how he treated her and I didn’t like how he treated my nephew.”
The Academy Award-winning actress — who, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, wore no makeup to court and wept frequently on the stand — went on to describe her relationship with her mother, Darnell Donerson. She told jurors they were so close, they slept in the same bed until she was 16 and spoke every day after she moved out. She identified a photo of Donerson by saying, "That's my mommy."
A lapse in their daily communication was the first signal for Hudson that something was wrong when she woke up on the day her family members were murdered. Hudson, who was in Tampa, Florida, with her fiance, David Otunga, recalled:
“I noticed that — I’m looking to see the text from my mom and it wasn’t any,” she said. “I kept sitting there wondering, like that’s strange. That was the first thing I said, ‘My mom didn’t text me.’”
Hudson claimed she made another attempt at reaching her mom, to no avail. “Maybe she’s busy, I don’t know. I knew she would get back to me, you know, so I remember falling back to sleep. And when I woke up, that’s when I got the news."

MIKE TYSON GOT A PRISON OFFICIAL PREGNANT
Mike Tyson
When asked by ESPN's Rick Reilly what he left out of the one-man show, he dropped this little bomb:
“I didn’t talk about getting a prison official pregnant,” he revealed. “Oh yeah. In prison, stuff happens. But she had no baby.”
Tyson served three years of a 10-year sentence for the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman, and was released in 2005. He's currently the father of eight children, including two from his current wife, Kiki.
The boxer also dished to Reilly about his history of drug use. “I just liked morphine,” he said, adding, “but I had to take a lot of it because it didn’t stay in your system for a long time. ... And I’d have my cocaine, and I had my marijuana, and I had my Cialis and Viagra and my little friends all sitting there. That’s just how I lived my life.”
They do say admitting you have a problem is the first step, so hopefully all this over-sharing means a healthier, happier life for the reformed Tyson.

THINK LIKE A MAN BEATS THE HUNGER GAMES
The ensemble comedy, based on Steve Harvey's bestseller and starring Hart, Gabrielle Union, Romany Malco, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Michael Ealy and Terrence J, earned a surprising $33 million over the weekend, beating even the most optimistic expectations.
Think Like a Man climbed to the top on the strength of a mostly male (62%) and over-30 (62%) audience. The Tim Story-directed film outperformed most recent African-American targeted films, even beating most of Tyler Perry's recent openings.
In the art house arena, Kevin Macdonald's "definitive" Bob Marley documentary, Marley, opened strong on 42 screens and grossed $260,000. And for those who don't live near one of the 42 screens Marley is showing on, you can catch it on VOD or iTunes.

KANYE AND KIM HOLDING HANDS PUBLICLY
While Kim Kardashian and Kanye West certainly like to keep us guessing, they seemingly all but came out with it last night, going public and proudly showing off their new relationship for all the world (or at least the world's paparazzi) to see by holding hands while leaving the opening celebrations of Scott Disick's new restaurant in New York.
And it seems their handsy behavior wasn't an outside-only endeavor.
Inside, the duo seemingly got just as cozy, as Kanye draped his arm across the reality star while they sidled up to Disick and Kourtney Kardashian.
At last night's opening of RYU, Kris Jenner told E! News that the male half of Kimye is "a great guy."
Earlier in the week, Khloé Kardashian Odom revealed that West spent the weekend with the family and had a "double, triple, foursome date...whatever. He's great with the family, but again we've known him for so long, it's easy. It's not like some stranger getting into some hurricane."

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars will also be featured on the mag's cover.

T.I COMMENTS ON "IGGY AZALEA VS AZEALIA BANKS" BEEF
Iggy Azalea and TI
Azealia Banks
In a recent interview with the Morning Riot, T.I. commented on the beef that started between two young rapstresses with similar names, Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea.
The beef originally started via Twitter when Azealia Banks commented on Iggy making the XXL Freshmen list.
When asked about the beef in this recent interview, T.I. called it "bitch shit."
"I ain’t even know nothin’ about it. I didn’t even see it. I know they going through their thing, but the fact that she’s speaking upon me and mine, that is what I consider bitch shit. I’m a man. You ain’t got no business addressing me," Tip said. "You and me, keep dealing with that woman. Y’all handle that. You and me, we ain’t got nowhere to go with that."
Azealia Banks has taken to Twitter to respond to Tip. In her Twitter rant directed at T.I. she asks him to shut the fuck up,
"T.i .... Please shut the fuck up about this. Like seriously quit it.funny how you have plenty of time to address me but have nothing to say to the dudes who been calling u at as a snitch forever. it's dead... The streets already know what kind of dude you are. Stop making yourself look softer by dragging this out.ain't you the same dude that got photographed butt naked n a pair of sneakers and a beanie???!?! what a fucking clown."
MASE OWES THE IRS $125 GRAND
Mase
It seems Ma$e may need to make some money off the rap game, as he reportedly owes the I.R.S. $124,774.85 in back taxes.
This large sum of money stems from the years 2000, 2001 and 2004.
The former Bad Boy left rap in 1999 to become a preacher, but returned in 2004.
COPS SEARCH THE BOSS' YATCH
Rick "The Boss" Ross
A rep for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says that officers flagged down Rozay's yacht on Thursday after noticing the smell of weed.
The cops boarded the boat and searched it, but found nothing. One of the Ross' entourage admitted to smoking weed, however claimed he threw the marijuana overboard when he saw the cops.
It worked, since no weed was found, no arrests were made. There will be no further investigation.
